Looking forward to a great summer of autocross!

End of Year Banquet!

The leaves have begun to change, the days are getting shorter and the temperature is getting lower.  The helmet is getting packed away, the snow tires are being dusted off, and the pre-winter checks are being done. These are all signs that another race season has come to an end. As depressing as that is, it’s not all doom and gloom. It means that it’s time to celebrate at the annual MBR Banquet!

The evening’s schedule:

6:00 – 7:00 – Drinks and Reception (Cash Bar)

7:00 – 8:00 – Dinner

8:00 – 9:00 – Season Recap and Awards

9:00 – 10:00 – Prizes, New club officers announced, etc…

Everyone, member or not, is welcome to attend. We start off the evening with some drinks and the usual BS session. It will also be the time to scope out the items in the Chinese Auction.  There will be almost $750 in auction items available, so be sure to bring some extra cash. At 7:00, dinner will be served. It is buffet style, and seconds are not frowned upon. After dinner, the R.E. will give a recap of the season and present all of the year end awards. There will also be some time to present the “other” awards. These are the fun ones. Think of it as your chance to Roast your fellow competitors. Everyone is encouraged to participate. After that, the R.E. will give a quick outgoing speech, and announce the new club officers. The new officers will help award the Chinese auction, and then it’s a wrap. If you have any questions, please contact KV, Logan, Tim, or respond directly on motorsportsreg.

We hope to see everyone there.    Link HERE

Test and Tune/Event #1

Welcome to the 2016 MBR SCCA Autocross/Solo season!

Autocross is a timed event that pits a driver's skill and a car's handling ability against the clock. A course is laid out using cones and the goal is to travel from the starting line to the finish in the lowest amount of time. A time penalty is incurred when cones are hit, so precision and control are essential. "Autocross" and "Solo" are used interchangeably - "Solo" is the SCCA's specific brand of autocross.

Autocross is one of the cheapest, safest and easiest motorsports to participate in. Our fees (listed below) are low, and no special safety gear (such as roll bars, fire suits, etc.) is required except a helmet (and the MBR Region has free loaner helmets available on site). You don’t need a “race car” to participate.  Almost any production car is welcome, from showroom stock to heavily modified. Cars only compete against other, similar cars depending on its original performance and modifications. Cars are never near each other on the course and the speeds are relatively low.

MBR’s events are held at Lake Erie Speedway. The Speedway is an 1/8th mile oval track with banked turns and paved infield, and we use all of it.  Oval track racing might not be for everyone, but it’s hard to keep a smile off of your face blasting around the banking and diving off into the infield.

For this particular event, we are holding a Test and Tune on Saturday in addition to the regular points event held Sunday.  The test and tune is a great way for beginners to come out and get their feet wet, or for experienced drivers to help polish their skills.  There will be 2 different courses run Saturday that are shorter than normal to allow for a lot of repetition.  Each course will focus on different course elements such as slaloms, big apex turns and tighter elements.  Sunday's course will be completely different, so that's 3 course over the weekend.  Instructors will be available for ride alongs to give you tips to help you get faster.  There's a discount if you do both days too.
